Featured Story

Alina
Many consider 13 an unlucky number. For ACE alumna Alina Luna, it represents something far more powerful: 13 years of opportunity, support, and hope through ACE Scholarships.
From kindergarten through high school graduation, ACE helped make it possible for Alina to attend schools that nurtured her potential and changed the course of her life. But her journey was far from easy.
At age 13, Alina lost her mother to an overdose, a tragedy rooted in generations of addiction. Determined to break that cycle, Alina’s grandmother made education a priority, sacrificing to keep Alina in the school that best fit her needs.
Alina found additional support from her ACE partner K-8th school—teachers and staff leaned in and surrounded her with compassion, counseling resources, and guided her through the high school application, where she was accepted, but the cost was nearly impossible for her family to manage.
That’s when ACE stepped in once again.
With support from ACE Scholarships, both her grade school and high school, and her grandmother’s unwavering belief in her, Alina found more than access to a great education. She found confidence, purpose, and a community that wanted her to succeed and reach her full potential.
In 2025, Alina graduated with a 3.9 GPA. Today, she is studying nursing at Regis University, determined to build a future of service and care for others.
“ACE changed my life,” she says. ” From kindergarten through high school—13 straight years and they never left my side. Someday, I hope to give back and provide the same care and freedom to another student who needs someone to believe in them.”
Alina’s story is proof that education is transforming lives. ACE Scholarships and our donors are creating brighter futures for generations to come because changing education changes everything.
