ACE board member and former Montana Gov. Judy Martz, dies at 74.
On November 7, the Honorable Judy Martz, Olympic athlete, first female Governor in Montana and ACE Montana Board Member, passed away.
She had been battling pancreatic cancer over the past few years and was most recently seeking treatment at the Mayo clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.
Ms. Martz was governor from 2001 to 2005. She was noted for turning a state deficit into a surplus while reducing taxes and increasing funding for education. Ms. Martz had been involved with ACE Montana since its inception in 2012.
“She was kind and charismatic, and created opportunity in Montana. She took on incredible challenges with grace and was a force to be reckoned with when necessary. She garnered respect from friends and foes alike and will be missed,” said ACE State Director, Jake Penwell.
The ACE Montana Board and staff are forever grateful for Ms. Martz’s advocacy of the ACE mission and involvement with the organization. Our deepest condolences with the Martz family during this difficult time.
